Brides, Brides and more Brides

I was fortunate enough to attend the Waterloo Bridal Extravaganza yesterday at the 5 Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. WOW! Lots of brides. Last count, they think they had over 2500 - 3000 people attend. That is a lot of people planning weddings, helpers, and would be-could be's coming to a bridal show.

The vendors were lovely; what a great group of people. We all finished our tables around 11 am and then visited with each other. Networking is so important in our industry; not only to check out your competition and learn what is the latest and greatest, but to also connect with other industry leaders that go through some of the same service issues that face us all when planning any event. It is refreshing to know that a broken votive cup while preparing my table brought a rousing cheer and claps---"Been there! Done that!" Love those guys!!!

One thing that I noticed were brides looking for reception decorating ideas. When polled, most brides don't have a clue what they want to do, what works, where do they obtain items-to buy or rent- and how do they put it all together? It is such a daunting task for some that I can see why the mirrored tile, three votive cups and floating candle centerpiece that is provided by many venues gets so much usage---let someone else do it!

Bless their hearts! I always try to bring along some inspiration books as well as my portfolio to shows. I am always guaranteed lots of people crowded around the table looking, wishing and dreaming.
