Wedding contracts

This is the time when brides and grooms start to sign contracts with their wedding vendors. I can't emphasize enough that you must, absolutely have to, without question need to, ask questions of items that you absolutely are foggy about. Do not, I repeat, do not sign a contract with any vendor (even your best friend) without reading the fine print, understanding the fine print and making sure that any clarifications get written down in the contract.

This is for your protection. It is just plain ridiculous not to protect yourself and your investment-your wedding. If money is changing hands and services are being bought, then that contract is your only inbetween you, the vendor and the law.

The second piece of advice is to put everything on a credit card just for the wedding if at all possible. Most credit card companies have built in protectors for disputing items or fraudulent activity. If you aren't using a credit card, then write checks. Under no circumstances pay cash for anything for your wedding (except gratuities on the day of). If any vendor asks you to pay them in cash, run the other way. No respectable vendor would ask you to pay this way. They would strongly encourage you to NOT pay with cash.

"Buyer Beware" was as appropriate 100 years ago as it is today. Be smart and wise by protecting yourself and your wedding!
