I took some time off yesterday and took my parents out to lunch in Clear Lake. It was a belated Father's Day present since we were up to our necks in weddings during the month of June and I missed his day. I had promised them lunch, so I just shut off the cell phones and closed the computer for a day of antiquing, store browsing, cookie munching and seeing the beautiful waters of Clear Lake.
This is also the town where the legendary Surf Ballroom is located. I think that it would be fun to hold a wedding there with a particular 50's theme. Think skinny ties and poodle skirts!

How does all of this relate to weddings? Well, this might be far reaching, but in the thick of wedding planning and bridal showers, it is a good idea to make a "date night" and slip away - just the two of you. Renew and re-energize together lest the wedding plans become too stressful and bothersome.
Everybody wants a piece of the bridal couple during the days leading up to your event. By taking a step back and regrouping together, you can remind each other why you are doing this in the first place - to invite friends and family to share in one of the most important days of your lives; to witness your love and commitment together; to pledge and promise to grow together with respect and love with a piece of forever.
