Tradition says that St. Patrick’s Day is considered the luckiest day of the year to be married in Ireland.  We think that these inspirational ideas make getting married anytime of the year a lucky event!
An Irish bride, following tradition, typically wore a blue wedding dress rather than white as the blue color was a symbol of purity.
Another Irish wedding tradition was Hand-Fasting.  This symbolic Celtic tradition started when a man and a woman come together at the Ceremony holding the hands of the other, right hand to right hand, left hand to left, crossing their wrists.  A ribbon is wound around their wrists over the top of one hand and under the other hand.  This started the practice of “tying the knot” and is widely practiced across the world today no matter what faith or religious practice you follow.
