On June 21, I headed out to the countryside north of Solon where Sts. Peter & Paul Church is located to capture Mark and Janeen's wedding day. Despite the clouds looking rather ominous in the morning, it turned out to be a gorgeous day and we had a blast working with Mark and Janeen, as well as their wonderful friends and families.
We began the day capturing details of the dress before Janeen put it on. I love her hanger she had custom made for the day. It's so much fun when brides add the little extra personal touches to their weddings.

After getting her finishing touches ready, Mark and Janeen had a beautiful first look outside of the church. I love it when we can move the first look to a beautiful setting, not that the sanctuary of a church isn't lovely. I just feel like couples seem a bit more relaxed and more natural when we move away from the church for the moment of the first look.
If you remember Mark and Janeen's engagement session, Janeen's dog, Bentley, joined in since he's such a big part of their lives. It was fun to see him again on the wedding day. He even came dressed in a little tux!
We were worried the skies would decide to open up, so we headed out to the beautiful countryside and gravel road near the church for a few outdoor portraits. Thankfully the weather decided to cooperate, so we were able to go out again after the ceremony. I do love the clouds in the picture above though.
Sts. Peter and Paul's had lots of beautiful architecture even though it is a pretty small church. The stairway that leads from the sanctuary area to the fellowship hall is gorgeous and filled with beautiful natural lighting.
After Mark and Janeen's ceremony, we headed to Sutliff for some additional portraits on the Sutliff bridge. A few miles away, we stopped along a beautiful gravel road. The sky was a beautiful summer time blue and the fields were a bold green. Simply beautiful!
Janeen had showed me a portrait of a bride being lifted and twirled that she wanted to recreate. I think the portrait we created is simply stunning. The bold colors of the sky and field make the image pop and you can tell the love they have for each other in the smiles on their faces.
Their reception was held at the Regal Crown in Lisbon. Their celebration was filled with great friends and family, warm toasts, and beautiful dances.
At sunset we stole the bride and groom away for a few minutes. I think sunset portraits are so wonderful. The evening light can be photographed in a way that is soft and beautiful or you can use the sunset colors to create dramatic images. As a photographer, it is so much fun to photograph at sunset.
A little later in the evening, we headed back outside for sparkler portraits. I have to say there is definitely an art to sparkler portraits. They are a bit tricky, but are so beautiful!
Congratulations again to Mark and Janeen! Thank you for allowing us to share in your wedding day! Also, a big thank you to my assistant, Greg Frieden for helping me capture all the beauty of this amazing wedding.
