It amazes me what some vendors think is alright for a wedding. I know that you have heard me stress time and time again that a wedding is one special day that does not get repeated. This is not a do-over day, so anything that is done for this event has to be special, on-time, done right and as perfect as one can make it.
So then why do some vendors think that shoddy workmanship is passable? The number one reason? Because we won't stand up and say any different. I was at a wedding recently where some of the draping in the reception room was so badly done, that I would be embarassed to say it was a finished product. In fact, my company wouldn't be caught dead passing that off to anyone except maybe unfinished practice! But unfortunately, this company does this type of work over and over again and no one ever says anything so they get by with it. Do they know that this is unacceptable? Yes, even their own workers verify it, but it still continues on.
Brides and grooms, moms and dads, if you have a vendor that does shoddy work, please stand up and voice your opinion. Don't settle for less than perfection from your vendors and if it isn't completed right the first time, then call them back to fix the problem. That is what we did. Unfortunately, we were up against a deadline, so were only able to have some of the shoddy workmanship corrected, but at least it was passable. (Passable--even that sounds sad especially when thousands of dollars have been given to this vendor.)
