Seating the family

Seating family members at a wedding can be important as well as showing a sign of respect. Weddings are still one of the most etiquette-minded social affairs where people really notice "mistakes."

I remember attending one wedding last spring where the bride wanted the ushers to seat her side of the family on the "groom's side" because she wanted to be able to see them out of the corner of her eye when she was at the altar. The family threw a fit. "That is not the way it is done!" "What will people think?" "This is wrong." In the end, some of her family sat on the Groom's side and some on the traditional "Bride's side." It made for some tense moments and bad feelings to start the wedding off with.

Now most of us would say that it doesn't matter what side you sit on as long as you show up!
To most of this I agree. I also agree that family matters when it comes to weddings. The bride's family is proud and wants to be identified with their daughter. So for the groom's side.

No matter what side you sit on, make sure that your family members are honored and feel treasured for attending your wedding day.
