I had the honor of providing the florals to a wedding recently. It was the kind of wedding that makes one believe in love and respect as well as decency and niceness.
When I went back to pick up the rented items, I had a chance to wish the bride congratulations. She was glowing with the happiness of her day. Her response was that it was the perfect day--nothing went wrong; the day seemed to go on forever yet seemed so short. I was taken aback for a moment that she would marvel that nothing went wrong, but then realized that she was correct in being pleasantly surprised by the flow of the day.
The media bombards us with doomsday reporting. Our co-workers complain about the latest mishap, and the world generally gives us the "glass is half empty" look at life. But this bride was calm, cool and collected. She planned, executed and then sat back and let happen what happened. She wasn't upset when the baker created her cake a little differently than she asked for. She wasn't upset that the linens were less than she first envisioned and she took all of the hustle and bustle of getting ready in stride. All she knew was that this was her special day and she was marrying the love of her life.
She is an inspiration for brides and vendors everywhere.
