It is the end of one year and the beginning of a New Year. We celebrate, make New Year's resolutions, and look forward to warmer weather. But what really happens when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st?
Anything that we vowed to accomplish in 2008 is gone and too late. The year is over and the time past. That means that we either have to start over in 2009 or double up on our efforts to get everything done. Not an easy task for some since we couldn't get it all done in the past 365 days.
Weddings are a bit like that. We start with grandiose ideas and dreams for our big day, but life, work and home take the larger share of our budgeted time and pretty soon, the day is here and we have regrets. Life is way too short for regrets. How to fix this? Prioritize.
I was visiting with a bride last night and tried to impress upon her that setting her wedding day priorities are a must if she wants to accomplish all that she hopes to. Without this list and sticking to it, at the end of her wedding day, she will look at her groom and voice, "I wish I would have!" To me, that is the saddest sentence that I can hear come from a wedding couple. The day is over, the event past, we don't get to do a re-do. Making every moment count on your special day is absolutely a must if you don't want to hear, "I wish I would have!"
