The Perfect Reception

I am working on my talk for the IMU Bridal Show on February 22 in Iowa City. We are having a Brunch and Learn, where brides and their guests will receive an intense hour and half of "boot camp-like talk" about how to host the perfect reception.
It is important to adhere to certain rules while planning your reception. After all, this is where you will be spending the bulk of your time, effort, and budget, so it only makes sense to put some time, effort and meaning into this event.

The perfect reception consists of three things ---

1. Good food. This is your first meal together as man and wife. This is not the time to skimp on "rubber chicken." You are inviting many guests to share your first meal with you. Wouldn't you like to be proud of what you are serving?

2. Good entertainment. Give your guests a reason to stay long after the the dinner has been served. A band or a DJ is up to you, but make it a good one that understands your personalities and what you are trying to accomplish at your reception.

3. A Bride and a Groom that takes each other by the hand and greets their guests, one by one. This part is essential. Your guests have come to your wedding to see YOU! A gracious host always makes sure that her guests are well taken care of and feel treasured. If you skip this step, then you have failed at giving your guests the very best gift---your time!
