I have put together an extensive Wedding Checklist for brides to follow when they get engaged. No matter where you are in the process, you can "catch up" and stay on track right up until the day of the event.
Here is an excerpt from the list that many brides forget: What do you do after the wedding is over?
The following is a list of items that you will want to take care of once your event is over. Use this as a guide; don’t assume that your wedding planner or family member will take care of everything. Make a plan and ask for help!
1. Plants and flowers---bring boxes to transport the arrangements home or wherever you are taking them to.
2. Ceremony items---who dismantles these and where do they go?
3. Toasting glasses—don’t forget to take these home.
4. Cake knife & server—bring a towel to clean off and pack home.
5. Cake Topper—will need something to transport it home.
6. Flower Girl’s Basket & Ring Bearer’s Pillow -- who takes care of these?
7. Guest Book, pen, and other guest book table items—don’t forget them!
8. Bring boxes to transport reception items home.
9. Who takes care of linens?
10. Bring food containers for leftovers.
Bring the following to the reception; you never know what you might need:
Extension cord
Garbage bags, large & extra large size
Duct tape
Scotch tape
Pens to write with
Black sharpie marker (to mark boxes or cover shoe scuffs
White chalk—to cover bride’s dress stains
Candle lighters (the automatic type)
Make sure that you have enough help for clean-up. It is a bigger job than you think!
The goal of the Wedding Checklist is to make sure that nothing is forgotten and during the week of your wedding, you are calm and relaxed. It truly is a stress-reliever; kind of like a "mini-wedding planner."
