Vendor Spotlight | Geno Photography

One of the things we love most about weddings is how unique each one is, and this wedding is a perfect example!  Carrie Geno from Geno Photography did an amazing job capturing this gorgeous day.  From Carrie:

"At the end of September, I had the honor of photographing Chris and April's wedding at A Touch of Class in Cedar Rapids.  Their day was absolutely beautiful from start to finish, and I am so happy that my assistant and myself were allowed to share in their day.

We began the day with their first look in the gazebo at A Touch of Class.  Then we took full advantage of the gorgeous backdrop the woods and grassy field there had to offer.  Their bridal party and families were so much fun to work with that everything ran super smoothly during the formal session.  A photographer couldn't ask for anything better: great people and a beautiful setting.

Their ceremony was held in two parts.  First, the traditional American wedding, during which April wore her stunning bridal gown, and Chris looked dapper in his tux.  Then, following a brief intermission, they had an abbreviated traditional Thai water ceremony.  For the Thai portion of the event, they wore gorgeous golden Thai outfits.  Their families and friends were invited to pour water on their hands and offer advice and well wishes for the newlyweds.  It was a beautiful and very special ceremony.

Following their bubble exit, we took some formal portraits of them in their Thai clothing before they headed off on a limo ride.  When they entered their reception, the party began.  The toasts were funny and heartfelt, the first dance was romantic, then ... they broke out into a choreographed dance to "Gangnam Style" that included their bridal party and many of their guests.  It was a surprise to all who were not participants in it.  So much fun!  The video from their wedding (captured by Cara Hall at Memories that Last Videography) was even featured on KCRG."

Real Weddings | Chelsea & Joe

A few weeks ago we were delighted to travel to Eastern Iowa to help Chelsea and Joe celebrate their reception at the Shores Event Center in Cedar Rapids.  Chelsea and Joe had already been married, but wanted a reception to celebrate with family and friends in the area.  The couple decided on a modern feel for their event, with green and silver for their main colors.  A slight feel of nature by using leaves and granny smith apples went perfectly with the brick room in the event center.

Congratulations Chelsea and Joe!

Real Weddings | Sam & Bryanna

Typically, a New Year's Eve wedding in Iowa will find freezing weather, snow on the ground and guests bundled up in layers of clothing, but with the temperatures in the 50's, 2011 ushered in a surprisingly great time to take wedding pictures!  Who knew?

Carrie from Geno Photography was one of the lucky photographers to be able to work on this day and caught some amazing pictures of this fun couple. Carrie is one of those photographers that we love because of her ability to work with the light, shadows and catch those great shots that we all love to view. Thank you, Carrie for sharing this beautiful wedding with us!

"The couple, Sam & Bryana, were great to work with.  They were married in the newly built Congregational church north of Cedar Rapids.  It had a huge window on the back wall, that allowed in some beautiful light.  We took most of the formal portraits there.  After the ceremony, we got some gorgeous shots of the couple in front of the sunset.  Despite being December 31st, it was 50* outside.  So much for the snow Bryana had hoped for, but at least she didn't freeze when we took the outdoor photos.  Their reception was held at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, where we set up a photo booth for added fun for the guests."
