Pantone Contest!

By now, you have heard that the 2014 Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid.
We are secretly clapping our hands since we think this is a gorgeous color for almost anyone!

I do so love inspiration boards. They are snippets of a full-scale event put in a pocket size to be cherish and admired. They show us what is possible, what we might find and how to make it all work together. Here are some great ones.

Inspiration can be anywhere

Where can a couple find inspiration for their wedding day? I always urge newlyweds to think carefully on how they want to share their wedding story with their guests. It is very important not to just choose vendors and items for their wedding willy nilly, but to choose a common "theme" so that all of their choices make sense and flow together when the end result is presented. Not only does this make sense but it can also save the couple valuable budget dollars and time.

Inspiration for their day could come from a color, a season, a place, a shared love of a book or poem, a hobby, or even a pattern. Here are some lovely wedding boards that took their inspiration from one particular love.

Maybe you love the color lavender in all of its forms or maybe your grandmother left you a treasured china set - notice the middle bottom picture in the above board from http://www.fancyfornyc.com/. A beloved set of china would be a perfect inspirational piece to build your wedding from. Set your head table with the china and take clues from the pattern and the color for the rest of your wedding.

The above board from http://www.blog.withthisfavor.com/ is a perfect way to incorporate your favorite food. In this case, candied apples were a bride's wish to share with her guests. Everything else fell into place once the couple decided that fall best suited their wedding plans.

Inspiration Boards

Girls have been sending me their ideas via inspiration boards. Since I have been using these for years, it is nice to see others use them and understand what they do for an event. Inspiration boards help define styles and give depth and ideas to what you are trying to create. They keep a person focused and help the creative process along of what you envision your day to be like.

How to start? Think of what inspires you?
A piece of clothing, a favorite ring, something that your fiance gave you?

The place that you got engaged?

Pearls from your grandmother?

Maybe you like a piece of paper from a thank you that you received.

Maybe you like white chavari chairs? If so, then you could literally plan an entire event from the look of what these chairs will do for a room.

Remember, inspiration can come from anywhere and can include anything you wish: fabric, jewels, metallics, paper, pictures, florals. textures, patterns, anything.
