We are wondering if any of you are curious like we are about camping tent weddings?  Talk about a fun weekend event! We are imagining white tents, colored canvases and more fun than one event should have!  We would include a massive fire pit with chairs all around, a swanky smores bar, lawn games, wildflowers, and candles, lanterns and more candles! Sign us up, because we are packing our knapsacks as we write this!

The Week In Review

Jan 11 | Trends and Real Weddings | by Cynthia
_________________________________________________________________________

The weather might have been cold outside this week, but the weddings and inspiration that we shared with you warmed the very heart of us. We had a fun week showing you 2014 trends and real Iowa weddings. If you missed a day, we have it recapped here in one easy read.

Monday always finds us here and there.  We shared our Pinterest Board for a Photo Shoot, confessed that our New Year hasn't started out the best way we hoped for, and couldn't wait to share another 2014 Wedding Trend - Gold.   Whew!  A busy start to the week!

We can warmed our hearts with this stunner of a wedding from Life Art Photographs shot at the World Food Prize Building in Des Moines. We shared a sneak peak with you here, but wanted to show you more of this wonderfully styled wedding here

It is hard to choose a favorite dress when we had so many lovelies to choose from! Is it us, or are wedding gowns getting more lovelier with ornate textures and details? Anyway you look at it, this week's choices are breathtakingly gorgeous!

When a favorite photographer sends you a file of pictures, you drop what you do and gaze upon beautiful snapshot after snapshot. We love Stan Richard's work and couldn't wait to share this gorgeous couple's wedding with you.

We know that February is a few weeks away, but we are excited to be a part of the upcoming Blank Park Zoo Bridal Sneak Peak on 2.28.2014. The Zoo has done some gorgeous renovations and can't wait to show off the goods. You are invited to be a part!

When you open your inbox to find it flooded with gorgeous, you-are-sure-to-love-photos from Geno Photography, you know that sunshine and love just entered your day. Carrie's pics are nothing short of perfection as she captures each precious thought and emotion of a couple's wedding day.

What are we up to this week?

Jan 6 | 2014 Wedding Trends, Part 5 | by Cynthia

We have to confess that this week will be a rough one.  The weather alone is not keeping hearts warm since temps are below zero for the high, so we think that we will be working on the outdoor photo shoot, inside!  Here is a sneak peak at our Pinterest Board:  http://www.pinterest.com/WeddingsInIowa/winter-snow-photo-shoot/

The lack of posting for the last two days was due to funerals in the WeddingsinIowa.com family.  My son lost his battle against brain cancer last week, and was laid to rest Saturday.  The day before his funeral, I learned that my father passed away from a long illness with Alzheimers.   Not the best start to the New Year to say the least.  Your  support and caring notes have been very comforting and my family and I appreciate them more than words can say.

Our 2014 Wedding Trends continues today with one of our ultimate favorites - Gold.
We are always looking for a way to add this shiney metal to any of our events since we think the warmth and elegance that is lends always dresses up any Wedding. We are thrilled to know that our efforts are among the many!  Gold can be found everywhere for 2014: dresses, linens, decor, stationery, even dessert has a touch of this luster.
We couldn't be happier!

2014 Wedding Trends, part 4

Jan 3 | More Color Trends | by Cynthia
_____________________________________________________________________________

Choosing a color palette for your wedding is important.  Color conveys emotion, can soothe a riotess spirit, create excitement with bold hues or even tell a story from a long-ago memory and depending on which wedding blog you follow, everyone has their own take on the 2014 color trends, so you have lots of choices!

We love that bright colors are making their presence known in 2014.  Their cheery shades can't help but make for fun events.

If bright colors aren't in your wedding plans, muted tones always
make for soft and romantic choices.

What if you just love color and want an array of hues and shades? Perfect! 2014 is the year of color, so mix and match to your heart's content.

2014 Wedding Trends, part 3

Jan 2 | Textures & Details  | by Cynthia
__________________________________________________________________________

We consider keeping up with the latest and greatest in weddings and events our promise to you that we are in the know.   Well, we KNOW that we LOVE all of the various textures and details that we are seeing crop up at weddings all across the country; beading, glittering, crystals, pearls, lace, ruffles, crochet, painting, ribbons, textured layers on patterns, the list goes on. Never has there been a time where there is so much for a bride to choose from.  Whether you choose just one aspect of your wedding to focus on, or want to incorporate layers on top of layers, there is inspiration galore.  We will keep you up to date with them all, but in the meantime, here are some of our favs.

We love the frilly flowers layered on various patterns. Source

Ruffles, crystal beading, ribbon, flowers and sleek; this dessert has them all.

Crinkled burlap, vintage glass, sleek modern ruched chairs, elegant crystal chandeliers, gold tassels, outdoor setting, tent canvas - it all goes together perfectly!

A vintage Ikat design layered over a more modern linen paired with Lucite chairs and vintage glass is all types of beautiful!  Source

Blue chevron, gold silver and glassware, pink napkins, farm tables, vintage and modern glitz paired together for a stunning table setting.  Source

Gorgeous textures equal ruffles, beading, lace, feathers, and more to make unforgettable gowns.

We are seeing bouquets that are getting messier and more beautiful!  Their earthy textures are a welcome alternative from the tightly packed floral spheres that we have been seeing in the past.  Different flowers, everlastings, more greens and trailing goodness; this is one trend that we hope continues.

Sparkle paper triangles against a rustic barn board backdrop is a study in textured goodness!    Source

There is every single type of textured, layered detail going on here to make for one gorgeous coffee station.  Attention to detail such as this will give your guests an experience that they will long remember.  Source

Throwing decor rules out the window when mixing styles is fun when you combine vintage, modern and glamorous with what speaks to your heart.  Source
