Real Weddings - Something Chic

Vendor Spotlight | SR Photography

Do we have a treat for you today! As usual, Stan Richards from SR Photography, has blown us away with the gorgeous photos he sent from Melani and Aaron's wedding he photographed. We love working with Stan and it's always an honor to feature his work. You can find SR Photography at their website, on Facebook and as a Preferred Wedding Book Vendor.

Here is what Stan had to say about this beautiful wedding. "It was a very beautiful and elegant wedding ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Johnston. Before that, we shot the wedding party downtown and at the State Capitol. The reception was at the elegant and recently remodeled Temple for the Performing Arts. Bella Flora Design did the beautiful flowers and DSM Catering did the dinner. Melani bought her dress at Pure Bridal in Ames and the cake was made by Sweet Binney's".

Vendor Spotlight | SR Photography

Stan, from SR Photography, recently sent us these photos of a wedding he captured earlier this summer at the Temple for the Performing Arts downtown Des Moines. We love all the color with the umbrellas and the bride's gorgeous gown! [How about that back shot of the bride at the ceremony site?!] Stan's work is always completely amazing. Congratulations to all!

Real Weddings | Brooke & Luke

One of our recent vintage weddings was for a special couple, Brooke & Luke. Their reception was held at the Temple for the Performing Arts in downtown Des Moines. This couple was very specific about the vintage vibe they wanted for the day and even brought in many items from their parent's homes. There were boxes everywhere! Old books, bottles, tin cans, milk bottles, milk glass, old tea cups and vintage plates; every little detail one can only imagine. It was a very detailed bride that even requested the adorable raw cotton balls that were featured throughout the design. We had so much fun styling!

For this couple's escort card display, we used a vintage farm door with chicken wire and adorable shutters, using clothespins to attach the cards to the door. Since this was located in the front hall with other vintage items, their entrance became a very welcoming place that instantly transported their guests to another era and set the mood for the entire evening.

For their guest book, Brooke and her family acquired two vintage typewriters so that guests could type out their well-wishes - library love done right! During dinner, our staff changed the social hour area into a wonderful vintage dessert lounge, which included delicious desserts from Cache, a coffee bar complete with vintage tea cups and saucers, two lounge areas and a photo booth. Does it get any more fun?
