Telling the truth

Lately, I have had many vendors tell me that they receive a phone call from a potential client. That client would like to set up an appointment to meet to discuss their upcoming event. The vendor says, "Great! What time is convenient for you?" A day and time is mutually agreed upon and then the day arrives. The appointed times comes, but no client. The vendors waits and waits. No phone call, no apology, no explanation, no show. In the meantime, the vendor still has to pay the babysitter, pay for the extra electricity, the gas, the lost wages in taking time off from another job early, the lost revenue that they could have had working on another project, and so forth. You get the idea.
The vendor calls the client the next day to find out if they possibly had the wrong day and time marked down, "No, I just got busy doing something else; I decided not to come at the last minute; I think we are going with someone else; We decided to go out of town; etc."

Readers, if you are going to make an appointment, please try to keep it. We understand if you have work, got sick, an emergency, etc. Please call us. if you can't call, then how about your fiance, your mother, your co-worker, even your neighbor? Okay, so I am being a little silly here, but seriously, you would be very upset if we made an appointment with you then didn't show. You wouldn't be very inclined to hire us to do the job for you.

As a vendor, we try very hard to maintain professionalism and respect for our client's time and lifestyle. We know that you are busy, that is why we are willing to meet with you at 9 pm on a Friday evening or during a noon hour on our busiest day ever. But we have lives as well, obligations and expenses. Being respectful of each other, just makes for a better community all around.
