Choosing a bridesmaid's dress for your wedding can be quite the undertaking when you have quite a few personalities and body types to consider. Long or short, strapless or sleeves, straight or poof, the list goes on and on. Do you take their likes and dislikes into consideration or choose one that you like and tell them to suck it up, after all, it is your day and you get to choose--right?
First of all, it is the bridesmaid's responsibility to purchase her own ensemble not to mention plane ticket, wedding gift, shower gifts, etc. So giving your maids some thoughtful consideration of their financial status not to mention will they ever be able to wear their dress again warrants a second look at bridesmaid dress options.
Maybe your choice should be that they get to choose their own dress within certain guidelines that you have set forth: tea-length, navy blue and nothing strapless or slinky; burgundy, floor-length, two piece with a black jacket. Have your maids send you a picture of their choices so that you have the final edit.
Being somewhat precise, yet allowing for personal freedom will equal much happier bridesmaids and a much calmer bride.
