Woodland Weddings

We have been working on a Corporate Event these past couple of days and the theme was a "Woodsy" feel. It got us to thinking about how much we love Woodland Weddings - those green earthy warm tones that get us so excited when we are asked to give design advice.

Here are some favorites that make us giddy with anticipation for out next outdoor affair.

Wedding Inspirations | Eco-Friendly Wedding Ideas

With Spring sprouting, we're thinking "green"!  Did you know that each wedding in the US produces an average of 400-600 pounds of waste* ... that's a lot of  items that could be recyled or reused!  We've put together a few ideas that you can use to make your wedding a little more eco-friendly.

Use recycled paper for your invitations:

Natural elements for escort cards and menu holders:

Have your eco-friendly escort cards double as favors:

Choose clothing made from organic fabrics ....

... Or wear vintage!

Have the ceremony and reception in the same location so there is less transportation for you and your guests:

Talk to your caterer about using locally grown food:

12 Days of Christmas - Day 10

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, ten lords a leaping.....

This beautiful wedding, shot by Lin & Jirsa would have your "lords leaping" with joy!  This wedding was absolutely stunning!

This wedding was shot at the Huntington Hyatt in Huntington Beach, CA.  Considering that California is a might warmer than Iowa, I can imagine that I am enjoying this gorgeous scenery!

Wedding Inspirations | Bouquets out of the box

My bride today is not a typical "Flower" girl.  She did not want flowers at her wedding, preferring natural elements instead; curly willow, seed pods, grasses, wheat, moss, etc.
I made her Bridesmaid's bouquets from dried German Statice with wheat accents and her bouquet was made from black bearded wheat, grasses and bunny tail grass.  Adorable and surprising very elegant.  It is amazing what a simple grain will do for your event!
