Escort Card Displays | 2012 Wrap-Up

After your ceremony, the escort card display is one of the first things your guests see of your reception. Escort cards help your guests know which table to sit at, which helps with the flow of your reception.  There are so many ways you can showcase your escort card display - whether it's actual cards, a chalkboard, windows, or fruit, it should be fun and unique to you and your new spouse!  For more information about these designs, check out Special Events, LLC's website.

Congratulations to all our brides and grooms this year!

Real Weddings | Peri & Billy

This past weekend, one of our own, Peri Baldwin, got married to her best friend, Billy Strong.  Their ceremony was lovely and the reception was so much fun.  Since we've been talking about it all week, here are some pictures to share...

The ceremony was held at Grace United Methodist Church - the same church Peri's parents were married in.  In fact, these are the exact same candelabras in her parent's wedding pictures!  We decided to add a little pop of her purple color to make them stand out.

We lined the front of the church in shades of purple floral arrangements, and then added some white flower petals in front.  These same arrangements were later transported to the Reception to march down the length of long tables.

In lieu of a flower girl, we added petals going up to their unity candle and table where they signed their marriage license.

Their cake was created by Let Them Eat Cake.  The round and square tiers took on a modern shape and the fresh strawberry filling was a perfect nod to this summer event.  Absolutely delicious!

Their reception was held at Zart 1312 in downtown Des Moines.  Zart has extremely tall ceilings, so to give some height in the room, we created silver trees filled with crystals and candles, surrounded by minature gardens.   More candles were added to create a romantic feel throughout the space.

We kept the head table low and simple, lining it with flowers and floating candles.  The Zebra-striped settee is a perfect touch for the Bride and Groom, a more modern feel than standard chairs.

The escort card table became a huge statement piece by placing it upstairs directly above the head table.  We draped silver manzaneta trees with silver crystal strands adding flowers at the base.  The table was later converted into holding favors during the dance.  The favors were made by Billy's sister, Abby Strong, who owns Double-Dipped Decadence!

Upstairs we created twin lounges where guests could relax and look at family wedding pictures.

Congratulations Peri & Billy!!

These are cute

These miniature items are so cute for a wedding or event, that I wanted to share them with you for inspiration. Remember that it is the details that make your wedding stand out from any other event. Be creative and original. Don't be afraid to think outside the box or to use items outside of their normal use.

I would love these lanterns at each place setting of an outdoor themed wedding, or better yet - pop in an LED light and hang them off the back of guest chairs for an elegant yet fun look.

I love anything with a monogram, so these votives scattered around your guest tables would be fun. Very chic and classic! Better yet, buy some in each letter and spell out different words on the guest tables as your "table number signs."

If you are having a beach wedding or water-themed event, then these seashells would be a great way to display escort cards during the cocktail hour. Line them up on a linen tablecloth with a few orchids scattered here and there and you have the makings for a south-seas adventure!

These cork placecard holders would work great for escort cards or menu cards. They would even do duty as bar signs letting your guests know which drinks are hosted and what wines are being served.
