Wedding Details - Tablesettings

Jan 15 | Adding Color & Texture | by Cynthia

We are suckers for details.  Whenever we research other blogs, our eyes are always drawn to the various details that make a particular photograph so interesting.  It could be a color, the texture of the linens, the way that eveything is mixed, yet matches, or it could be something as simple as the light streaming through a window.  As designers, we know that details are important because the sum of the parts is what your guests will take away in their memory bank when they recall your event.

We are particularly drawn to table settings.  It is one of the reasons I became involved in designing weddings - I wanted to make sure that the tables that your guests sit at are as beautiful as the rest of your event. Whether your style is contemporary, rustic, minimalistic, earthy, vintage, modern or a mixture of all, paying attention to all the elements that go into setting a beautiful table is very important for the final look.

Here are some of our favorites.

2014 Wedding Trends, part 3

Jan 2 | Textures & Details  | by Cynthia

We consider keeping up with the latest and greatest in weddings and events our promise to you that we are in the know.   Well, we KNOW that we LOVE all of the various textures and details that we are seeing crop up at weddings all across the country; beading, glittering, crystals, pearls, lace, ruffles, crochet, painting, ribbons, textured layers on patterns, the list goes on. Never has there been a time where there is so much for a bride to choose from.  Whether you choose just one aspect of your wedding to focus on, or want to incorporate layers on top of layers, there is inspiration galore.  We will keep you up to date with them all, but in the meantime, here are some of our favs.

We love the frilly flowers layered on various patterns. Source

Ruffles, crystal beading, ribbon, flowers and sleek; this dessert has them all.

Crinkled burlap, vintage glass, sleek modern ruched chairs, elegant crystal chandeliers, gold tassels, outdoor setting, tent canvas - it all goes together perfectly!

A vintage Ikat design layered over a more modern linen paired with Lucite chairs and vintage glass is all types of beautiful!  Source

Blue chevron, gold silver and glassware, pink napkins, farm tables, vintage and modern glitz paired together for a stunning table setting.  Source

Gorgeous textures equal ruffles, beading, lace, feathers, and more to make unforgettable gowns.

We are seeing bouquets that are getting messier and more beautiful!  Their earthy textures are a welcome alternative from the tightly packed floral spheres that we have been seeing in the past.  Different flowers, everlastings, more greens and trailing goodness; this is one trend that we hope continues.

Sparkle paper triangles against a rustic barn board backdrop is a study in textured goodness!    Source

There is every single type of textured, layered detail going on here to make for one gorgeous coffee station.  Attention to detail such as this will give your guests an experience that they will long remember.  Source

Today, we're showing you our favorite ways to incorporate Billy Buttons into your wedding day. We love these bright, little balls of cuteness and think they are an adorable detail to add to your wedding! Add a few of these cuties to your bridal bouquet for a pretty pop of yellow or place a few "buttons" in white vases for a clean, modern look. Here are some of our favorite ways to use Billy Buttons in your wedding day decor!

Wedding Inspirations | Glittery Gold Wedding

While we do love a gorgeous vintage theme, we also love a fabulous modern look!  This glittery-gold modern wedding at an art museum in Ft Lauderdale, Florida is so much fun - the bridesmaids were all in different shades of gold and sparkles, the bride and groom had an adorable sweetheart table, the cake incorporated the venue of the art museum perfectly, and the photo booth looks like everyone had a blast!

Real Weddings | Mark & Emily

This summer we've had multiple weddings at the Scottish Rite Temple downtown Des Moines.  A couple weekends ago, we had a blast helping at Kayla and Drew's wedding, and last weekend, we headed back to help with Mark and Emily's.  The couple chose a gorgeous gray with yellow accents, and had a modern and sophisticated feel for their big day.  We did multiple different centerpiece styles on the guest tables, for their head table, a harvest table, complete with a huge silver branch and floral centerpiece.

Congrats Mark and Emily!
