Salisbury House & Gardens Photo Shoot

When you get a group of talented artists together, one designer with a specific idea and an historic home filled with beautiful artifacts and an amazing staff, you end up with perfection! Our recent photo shoot at the Salisbury House and Gardens located in downtown Des Moines was nothing short of magic. This gorgeous Tudor, Gothic and Carolean style manor home, was built by cosmetic magnate Carl Weeks and his wife, Edith Van Slyke Weeks, between 1923 and 1928. It is beautiful beyond description and lovingly preserved by a concerned staff and foundation that clearly love what they do.
Even though the grounds and common rooms are hosts to many events and weddings, our photo shoot explored the more intimate areas of the house that many people do not often see. Because of that fact alone, we are thrilled to be posting pictures in future blogs from the three photographers that participated in this amazing afternoon.

We held our first Preferred Bridal Show of the season yesterday at the Ames Quality Inn & Suites. We had a great show with wonderful brides, friends and family visiting with Premier vendors in a relaxed, yet super fun atmosphere. We gave out lots of prizes, ate some delicious cupcakes from Scratch Cupcakery and sampled yummy goodies from Lidderdale Catering. All in all, a great day meeting hundreds of Brides planning their weddings.

Bridal Shows can be very exciting times for Brides and Grooms. Who, What, When and Where can often times be decided in a single visit. Finding those vendors that think outside the box [we had a company called Urban Storks attend and they were super busy!] are ones that we love to showcase. A wedding is more than a cake and a dress. It is lifestyle, it is introducing personal style and above all, it encompasses the love that you have for each other, friends and family.

Our next show is this Sunday in Iowa City. We would love to have you join us!

February Loves

The forecast is not sounding good for the week - snow, cold and more cold, so we are taking advantage of the white beauty to get caught up in the office: bridal shows, proposals, websites; the work is plentiful! I have to confess that I could enjoy a few days of uninterrupted work and a chance to get caught up. As any Event Designer/Wedding Planner will tell you, time is a precious commodity that we never take for granted.

Our first Preferred Bridal Show of the season will find us this Sunday, February 9th at the Quality Inn & Suites in Ames, IA from Noon - 2:30 pm. This is our fourth year in Ames with wonderful vendors that truly understand the meaning of quality, professional service. Pure Bridal from Ames will be hosting our fashion show. Gorgeous gowns and models will grace the runway as they show the latest designer gowns.

The gang from Vintage Love, Rentals and annessi will be partnering with Party Time from Ames and Scratch Cupcakery for a unique dessert station that you won't want to miss!

Absolute Music will greet you with great music and Special Events, LLC will make sure that you have a cup of hot tea to warm you as enjoy other munchies and goodies that we have waiting for you.

Couples will have a chance to win a prize every 1/2 hour, a chance for a Grand Prize Bag and Goodie Bags to gift to the first 50 brides that attend the show. This is a show you don't want to miss!

Jasper Winery Photo Shoot - Part 2

We promised you more pictures from the Photo Shoot that we did at the Jasper Winery with Photos by Aaron Thomas. Since we were in a winery at the fall time, of course, we couldn't resist a S'mores and Hot Chocolate Buffet to share. The amazing this about this shoot were not only the pictures, but the clean-up time afterwards - YUM!

Jasper Winery Photo Shoot

We LOVE weddings! Plain and simple. But what are designers to do when they have lots of ideas running around in their heads and no wedding to decorate for with those ideas? Why....you style a Photo Shoot which is exactly what we did at Jasper Winery last month. We had so much fun with talented Aaron Thomas - our photographer, Pure Bridal - our wonderful fashion expert and Peri Baldwin Strong - our own expert photo shoot stylist who put it all together.
Barring the sun setting in the wrong place [how dare it!], long shadows getting in the way, the wind blowing feathers to who knows where, running here and there to make sure the details were perfect, we think that the afternoon went by way too fast - that happens when you are having fun!

We have lots of pictures and don't want to spoil you all at once, so we will tease you with these. We are absolutely in love with the plaid and pheasant feather theme!
