Bridal Show | IMU Main Lounge - Iowa City

We are getting ready for the annual Iowa City Bridal Show held at the IMU Main Lounge this Sunday, February 20th from noon - 3 pm. It promises to be a great show with lots of food, music, give-aways and decor.  We are going down early to do lots of decorating so that brides and their guests will be "WOW'ed" when they enter the main salon.  Of course, I say this, so now I have to deliver!

The Main Lounge is a lovely facility that can seat 300 + guests.  It lends itself to beautiful events with a gorgeous room filled with extra touches like lush carpet and gleaming woodwork.  I was visiting with Bobbi Houselog, the Wedding Coordinator / Catering Sales and was surprised to learn that they still have some open dates for the 2011 Wedding year:
 ~ May 21, June 25, July 9, August 6, August 13 and Sept. 10th ~

They also have a second floor Ballroom which is quite lovely and a little more intimate which holds up to 260 people.  It is currently open all of July and Sept. 10th.

They also operate the University Club as well and still have open dates for that facility.

So if you are getting married this year and have not found a venue yet, check that off your "where-do-I-go" list and e-mail Bobbi  at bobbi-houselog@uiowa.edu today to reserve your space.  The food is delish, the staff amazing and the decor beautiful - how can you go wrong?

3 Websites and Counting

Normally in the month of January, besides traveling (which I have NOT been doing because of the weather!),  I tend to business-housekeeping chores; cleaning the supply closets, re-arranging the glassware room, and redoing any websites that need a more modern look.   I have been busy with all of the above, especially the three websites that drive business to  www.weddingsiniowa.com. 

I learned early on that the more links that you have out there the more likely people are to find you, not to mention a higher ranking on the search engines.  The higher ranking means more people find you with ease, the more business you gain and the more business-housekeeping you end up doing.  It is a "happy" cycle!

According to Event Intelligence Inc., in 2011, over 90% of brides and party hosts will use the web as a primary resource to book and plan their events. If your site isn't visible, then those brides won't find you, so to work I go.  Let me know what you think of the revamped looks.

If you have not had a chance to look through this beautiful publication, I strongly urge you to get down to your local bookstore and snatch one up.  I love his ingenious way of color styling.  What a great resource for the not-so-decor-inclined-bride as well as for us who can't-get-enough-of-the-wedding-stuff!

Bridal Show a success

If you missed joining us yesterday at the ISU Alumni Center at our Wedding Salon Bridal Show, then you missed a great afternoon.  We had fun!  We gave out lots of prizes.  We visited with great vendors.  We sampled suberb food.  We saw lots of table and wedding ideas.  Pictures are coming.....

Dresses and Sales

When brides are looking for their gowns, deals are always a special bonus.  So.....if you are looking for more deals - this week seems to be a good one for them!  Elaine's Bridal will be bringing beautiful wedding gowns to our Wedding Salon Bridal Show at the ISU Alumni Center on March 28th from noon - 3 pm.  In addition to the latest designers, she is also bringing some 1/2 price gowns as well as gowns marked down to $99.00!  This is a great time to get a second dress for your reception or even a first dress for a great price!  We will have changing rooms for you and staff on hand to help you find that perfect wedding dress.

Bridal Show update

Our first Wedding Salon Bridal Show is coming soon to the Iowa Univeristy Campus!  The IMU Wedding Salon Bridal Show is in the Main Lounge on February 21st from noon - 3 pm.   You really don't want to miss this show! A beautiful designer fashion show, exquisite table designs, new linen fabrics, music, food and cake samples, hourly prizes, Goodie Bags, and so much more.
