Vendor Spotlight | Geno Photography

We love working with Carrie Geno, from Geno Photography! Carrie recently sent us these gorgeous photos from Scot and Allie's wedding this summer and they are truly amazing! Here is what Carrie had to say about this couple and their wedding day.

"On July 20th, I headed to First United Methodist to begin capturing Scot and Allie's wedding day. I love the large circular stained glass window above the alter in First United Methodist. It is truly stunning set above their grand pipe organ. It made for a beautiful setting for this wedding.

For the ceremony, Allie was escorted by her brother down the aisle. You could see the emotion on both of their faces as they walked. The ceremony was sweet. They were surrounded by close friends and family. As they exited the church, they were surrounded by a beautiful cloud of bubbles.

Between the ceremony and reception we stopped by the Ford and Honda dealerships where they work to take some pictures. I love it when couples have a location that is special to them. This was where they first met, where they began to fall in love, and a large part of their lives. I think it is so amazing to be able to capture portraits of them on one of the most important days of their lives at a location to dear to their hearts.

Their reception was held at the Coralville Marriott. I have to give a big shout out to Unique Events, their DJ for the night, for the amazing job they did with the reception. Not only are the fabulous DJs but the up-lighting, lounge area, and light up dance floor were AMAZING!

Congratulations to Scot and Allie! Best wishes for your future together. Also, thank you to Shuva Rahim for assisting me in capturing this beautiful day!"

The simple pew flowers and decor accents lent an uncluttered beauty to the space while allowing the natural light of the church to really shine. After photo excursions at the fairgrounds and along hidden dirt roads, the evening ended with a beautiful party at the Clay County Regional Events Center".

A great photographer is a must at your wedding. I have talked long and hard about this subject and just can't seem to say enough about it; you want to choose a photographer that matches your style and personalities.

If you are interviewing photographers and they want to limit their time with you on your wedding day ( i.e. less time means less money), walk away and find a professional that doesn't limit you to mere hours. How can you begin to capture the entire day in only four hours of coverage?

What happens to the once-in-a-lifetime shot of your grandfather dancing with the bride? I still have the picture of my grandfather dancing with me at my uncle's wedding. The picture is priceless since my grandfather is no longer living. What happens to those candids? "Someone will get those shots at the reception!" I hear this all of the time. What if they don't? A professional has a trained eye to be looking for those precious moments to capture.

A photographer should be with you from the very beginning of the day to the last wave of goodbye! Every minute; every second of your day is precious, because when the clock strikes midnight, the day is over--never to be captured again.
