Happy 4th!  These were too cute from United with Love not to share, and in our nation's capital city as well!

Wedding Inspirations | Unconventional Wedding Cake?

I have a couple who does not want a traditional wedding cake.  They have asked me for some suggestions for something to serve their guests that is a little out of the ordinary.  I am happy to oblige!  Here are a few ideas that may be not only fun for your guests, but shows off a little more of a couple's personal spirit.

A "Cake" made from wheels of cheese might be fun.  I would serve it with in-season fruit for a complete dessert.

If you can't pass a Krispy Kreme store without stopping, then a doughnut wedding cake might be the perfect alternative for you.

A Dessert Buffet may be the perfect alternative to a cake fix.  There is certainly no shortage of sugar and in addition to a mutitude of dessert ideas, you could color coordinate it to your wedding colors.  This would also be a great way to incorporate beloved family favorites.  Ask your Mother, Grandmother or favorite Aunt to make her famous dessert, showcase them on heirloom or vintage plates and don't forget food tags to let your guests know the story behind each goodie.  This is a great way to include your family in the wedding happenings as well as give your guests great topics of conversation.

As you can see, the possibilities are unlimited.  The main thing is to have fun, treat your wedding dessert with all the reverence that it deserves and show off your individual style.

I love candy buffets.  They are so fun to plan and execute.  It is a great little favor for your guests, not to mention a fun way to show off your style.  Candy buffets can take on many forms - themes, colors, types, or just a hodge podge of your childhood favorites. I have seen old and young flock to these tables just to sample the sweets and maybe take home some treats in cute bags with your  initials on them.
