Vendor Spotlights: Scratch Cupcakery | Dutch Oven Bakery | Heideman Photography | My Photo Impression

We are lucky to have amazing vendors featured on WeddingsinIowa.com.
Here are some of our newest Premier businesses  that have recently joined our "family."  You can use their services with confidence, knowing that they care about your wedding almost as much as you do!

If you are looking for cupcakes, Scratch Cupcakery serves a mean cupcake!  These are perfect little gems of delicious, yummy cake in a variety of flavors and colors to serve to your Guests.  Scratch is located in Des Moines, Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

If you are more of a traditionist and want to serve a beautiful wedding cake, not to mention "work of art," to your guests then Van Hemert's Dutch Oven Bakery in Ames Iowa is worth the trip.  Gorgeous cakes, delicious desserts and pastries and excellent customer service. They also have a bakery in Boone.

If you are looking for a photographer, look no further than one of our very newest WeddingsinIowa.com Premier Photographers, Heideman Photography.  Located in Waukee, this artistic couple loves shooting weddings.  They are always looking for the new and different and are always up to a challenge.

If you are looking for something different to capture a special moment from your event, My Photo Impression is perfect.   This is not a photography company! Choose any photo and My Photo Impression carves the impression of the image into a translucent material, which captures the wonder of the special moment. When unlit, the piece resembles a marble carving. Just turn on the light, and the varying thickness of the impression creates the illusion of the original image.

Flowers

Not many people know that I am a florist in addition to many other hats that I wear. I love flowers! All types and kinds, all colors and textures. I adore calla lilies (they were my daughter's favorite), roses, lisanthus and stocks. Hydrangeas are great favorites and I would never turn down a tulip!
When I do a bouquet for a bride, I want to make sure that it is exactly what she envisions. I once attended a wedding where the florist (not me) delivered the flowers and the bride starting crying because her bouquet was not at all as she imagined it to be. Talk about tugging on the heart strings. I felt terrible for her. The dreaded bouquet was in all her pictures. She still talks about her disappointment to this day.

These beautiful pictures of flowers are from one
of my favorite photographers, Brian Garman

Happy Valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day!
What better way to start out the day than a beautiful picture from one of my favorite photographers-Brian Garman. Who wouldn't want to carry something like this? It is beautiful!
Our gift to all of you romantics out there!

Speaking of beautiful, check out these lovely envelopes done by one of my favorite companies, Within The Ribbon. Just the very name evokes romantic and elegant thoughts.

They customize your envelope addressing, making it so easy to hand over your guest list and letting them take care of the rest. Wouldn't you want to receive something like this in the mail?

Here is some information about their company.....
Within the Ribbon can print your guests' names and addresses directly onto the inner and outer envelope of your wedding invitations. You choose the font and the color to fit your style. Most orders can be completed in 48 hours or less.
It's fast, it's simple and much less expensive than hand calligraphy.

The Result? Endless compliments on your good taste from friends and family and a feeling among your guests that THIS is a wedding not to be missed!
Thoughtful details do not have to cost a lot of money, but they show your friends and family that you took the time to make your day really special.

Within the Ribbon isn’t just our business name . . . it’s our philosophy. The term "within the ribbon" stems from a tradition used in some weddings to signify a special area for seating honored guests - the best seats, of course, designated by a ribbon. It is this very notion of treating each of our customers as the most special of guests that we bring to our company. Every client of ours receives dedicated VIP-treatment. Within the Ribbon combines your individual personality with a creative vision to build an overall image for your wedding day that is completely unique and exclusive to you. We offer a full-service, catered approach where each event is given customized creations. What might be a fabulous idea for one client would not be a perfect fit for another.
At Within the Ribbon we strive to go the extra mile to ensure expectations are exceeded and each client feels special, honored, and pampered. Let us show you how it feels to be . . . Within the Ribbon.

Romantic and Elegant

I just received some beautiful pictures from Brian Garman and I couldn't wait to share them with you. These are fantastic!
Brian is the type of photographer that everyone wants. His pictures of weddings are romantic and elegant, yet very edgy and new. He has an artist's eye as evidence of his following work. His pictures need no caption, no explanation. His camera and focus speaks volumes---Love, Love, Love his work!

Artsy Photos

I love the kind of photos that really tell a story without really being anything. Know what I mean? I think they are called "artsy photos." I am always trying to think of ways for my brides and grooms to incorporate these shots into their day.

For instance, I have a bride telling me that her church and reception venue are only three blocks away. I am immediately thinking of all the great shots her photographer can capture while she is walking back and forth. Forget the transportation and take advantage of the great photo opportunities. Those are just the type of award-winning pictures we see in magazines and on posters.
We always ohh and aww over them and think about how dreamy and romantic and beautiful the couple looks in THOSE shots. Why can't that be you?
