Three DIY Projects

Jan 22 | Fun & Easy Projects to add to your Wedding | by Cynthia
__________________________________________________________________________

It doesn't take much to add a spark of imagination to your wedding to gain the "WOW" factor with your guests.  Below, we have three DIY Projects that you can do - no instructions needed - easy peesy, but will add the fun, "why-didn't-I-think-of-that" aspect to any event.

We think that this roll or brown paper mounted on a round long dowel would be perfect as a Guest Book, Escort Card Service, Well Wishes to the Couple, Bar or Food Menu.  It would also make a great Program at the beginning of your Ceremony.  Photo Source

Inexpensive Vases can be had for a song at any discount store, Salvation Army or Goodwill. Spray painting them a signature color creates drama and cohesion.  They can be used anywhere for your wedding - as centerpieces, bouquet holders, tied to the end of chairs to frame an aisle, tucked here and there for a spot of color, or even as Guest Favors.  Photo Source

Need some Centerpiece ideas?  These frames are from an inexpensive discount store, glued together at the corners, then slipped over a candle in a glass container.  They would be a great way to show off engagement pictures or family pictures on each Guest Table.  Photo Source

DIY Projects | Wax Paper Backdrop

Don't let the wax paper in the title fool you - this DIY backdrop from Style Me Pretty is drop dead gorgeous! It's light, and airy and utterly romantic and we are just smitten! We love that SMP featured the pretty, romantic backdrop in an industrial setting but think this would look absolutely stunning hanging from a tree or an arbor during your wedding ceremony.

MATERIALS

10+ yards of ribbon
size 10 crochet string
tapestry needle
scissors
1/2 boxes of interfolded waxed deli sheets
match stick

DIRECTIONS

Step 1
Fold waxed paper sheet in half to form a square and cut out circle shape.

Step 2
Cut circle in half and set aside. Cut crochet string to desired length and tie a slip knot on one end.

Step 3
Fold half-circle into cone shape by turning the corners in towards each other so that they overlap. Secure cone shape by stitching in and out of where the paper overlaps.

Wedding Inspirations | Marquee Letters

Vintage marquee lights are any typography and glittery light lover's dream, which is why we adore these lights! Marquee lights make an exquisite, glittery backdrop for photos, dessert buffets or reception venues. Take a look at some of our favorite lights and a tutorial to make your own!

Green Wedding Shoes has a great tutorial to make your own marquee light using paper mache letters. You could also use unfinished wood letters for a sturdier, more permanent option. Happy crafting!

DIY Love | Paper Flowers

If you are a DIY Bride, then today's posting will tug on your heartstrings.   I love unique and fun projects, when I found these Paper Flowers, I instantly fell under their charm.  They are a sweet reminder of how simple things can be so wonderful to share with others.  These would be adorable created from a favorite book, poem, special Ceremony readings or perhaps from your fiance's love letters!  They can be used as escort cards, napkin embellishments, boutonnieres [think- Groom, Love Notes!], hair ornaments for a flower girl, or a gift to a treasured friend.  You can find this lovely project at 100 Layer Cake.

To see how one couple incorporated these sweet sentiments for their own wedding....

Pear Escort Cards

If any of you know me at all, I am a great lover of escort cards.  Escort cards let your guests know which table they are seated at, at your reception.
The escort card table - the table that holds the escort cards - are a great way to show off your style, or maybe you would rather have your cards afixed to a tree, clothespinned to string, in their own envelope; the possiblilites are almost limitless.  The only rule is to have fun with it.

Escort Cards can also be great DIY projects.  In fact, the pear escort cards shown below double as escort "cards" and favors.  Besides, they are adorable!

To make your own, you will  need
  • paper
  • scissors
  • 1/4" hole puncher
  • fruit
  • ribbon
  • number stickers (Micheals.com)
1.  Go to TheKnot.com/diy and download their rectangular template.   Pick out paper and print as many tags as you'll need.
2.  After cutting out all of the tags, handwrite a guest's name on each one.
3.  Punch a hole in each tag and attach it to a pear stem with a piece of pretty ribbon.
4.  Once you've assigned guests to their tables, pop a corresponding number sticker on each pear to help show guests to their seats.
