Real Weddings | Beth and Josh

Summer weddings can be wonderful.  When the weather cooperates [remember, this is Iowa and the weather can change in an instant!], the day can be quite lovely for a photo shoot.  Carrie, from Geno Photography sent me some great photos from one of her August weddings this year.

Beth and Josh were married at the Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City. The IMU is a great place for a wedding as it is close to so many other great places around town to snap wedding pictures.

"It was beautiful out for their day and we enjoyed walking around the IMU area for photos.  I loved the orange parasols the girls had.  Such a brilliant pop of color.  Their cake was gorgeous as well and was made by Jamake's Cake Creations."

Doesn't the above picture look like a
wonderful vintage postcard?  Love it!

Real Weddings | Trash the Dress

You know that I love Trash the Dress Sessions.  These are the photo opportunities that allow a photographer to get some of the very best shots of either the couple or the bride; a time when she is not as concerned about her hair and makeup and feels a bit more at ease with the camera.
Carrie with Geno Photography loves Trash the Dress sessions as much as I do!  Here is a latest photo session that she just sent me with Sarah at Lake Mc Bride near Solon, IA.

DIY Love | Paper Flowers

If you are a DIY Bride, then today's posting will tug on your heartstrings.   I love unique and fun projects, when I found these Paper Flowers, I instantly fell under their charm.  They are a sweet reminder of how simple things can be so wonderful to share with others.  These would be adorable created from a favorite book, poem, special Ceremony readings or perhaps from your fiance's love letters!  They can be used as escort cards, napkin embellishments, boutonnieres [think- Groom, Love Notes!], hair ornaments for a flower girl, or a gift to a treasured friend.  You can find this lovely project at 100 Layer Cake.

To see how one couple incorporated these sweet sentiments for their own wedding....

Real Weddings | Garden Fun

We had the priviledge of working with a wonerdul couple earlier this summer.  It was a second wedding, so the emphasis was on close family and friends.  Both of the couple are gardeners, so we decided to recreate a garden in the middle of an empty room.  You would be surprised what mulch, bricks and lots of plants will do for a room.
Congratulations Mary and Jim!

Mary and Jim were married on the Friday before their Reception at the Candlelit Way Wedding Chapel.   Their reception was held the next day at the Lakeside Center in  Ankeny.

Real Weddings | Wolfe - Wilharber Wedding, Part II

As you can see from the lack of posting yesterday, that I was busy at the Bridal Show in Iowa City,  We had so much that I will be posting about it later this week.  As soon as I have pictures, I will show you our great day.

As promised, I wanted to share more of Doug Mcbride's pictures with you from the Wolfe - Wilharber Wedding that took place this past summer in Des Moines.  Their ceremony was at the beautiful United Methodist Church downtown and their reception was at the Glen Oaks Country Club
