Three DIY Projects

It doesn't take much to add a spark of imagination to your wedding to gain the "WOW" factor with your guests.  Below, we have three DIY Projects that you can do - no instructions needed - easy peesy, but will add the fun, "why-didn't-I-think-of-that" aspect to any event.

We think that this roll or brown paper mounted on a round long dowel would be perfect as a Guest Book, Escort Card Service, Well Wishes to the Couple, Bar or Food Menu.  It would also make a great Program at the beginning of your Ceremony.  Photo Source

Inexpensive Vases can be had for a song at any discount store, Salvation Army or Goodwill. Spray painting them a signature color creates drama and cohesion.  They can be used anywhere for your wedding - as centerpieces, bouquet holders, tied to the end of chairs to frame an aisle, tucked here and there for a spot of color, or even as Guest Favors.  Photo Source

 

Need some Centerpiece ideas?  These frames are from an inexpensive discount store, glued together at the corners, then slipped over a candle in a glass container.  They would be a great way to show off engagement pictures or family pictures on each Guest Table.  Photo Source
 

DIY Project | Glitter Feathers

Two things we love for weddings are sparkles and feathers. As soon as we saw this tutorial for glitter feathers from Frankie, we knew we must share! There are so many things you could use these feathers for. We love the idea of using these feathers for boutonnieres, garland, or suspending them to create a ceiling full of whimsical feathers!

MATERIALS

Feathers

Fine glitter

A glue stick

Small bowl

Craft paper

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Put down some craft paper to protect your work surface. Glitter can be so messy to work with, and it will help contain the glitter (somewhat).

2. Spill some glitter out into your bowl.

3. Apply a layer of glue to the tip of the feather on both sides. Glue sticks are good for this project because other types of glue can be heavy or create clumps. A light layer is all that is required!

4. Dip the tip of the feather into the glitter, or pick up a pinch with your fingers and sprinkle it on. You can always touch up glitterless spots if you're okay with getting glitter on your glue stick.

5. Shake off excess glitter and set aside to dry. Stare in awe at their prettiness.

DIY Projects | Paper Flower Backdrop

We love this paper flower backdrop tutorial from Green Wedding Shoes! You could use this backdrop for a wedding ceremony, cake table or guest book table. Use colored paper or wrapping paper to spice things up or use the tutorial to make a flower garland like this one here.

Materials:

• large sheets of butcher paper to make larger flowers
• sharpie or pencil
• scissors
• glue gun

Step 1: Starting from the outside draw a spiral on your butcher paper. Make the outer rings narrow and widen them as you move closer to the center.

Step 2 & 3: Cut out your spiral shape starting from the outside.

Step 4: Curl your spiral shape into itself. Start with the outside end and continue to curl until you reach what was once the center of your spiral.

Step 5: Let your flower unravel into itself a bit. Do not let go while it unravels! You want a flower that is a bit loose.

Step 6: Add a bit of glue to what was once the center of your flower.

Done!

DIY Project | String Heart Art

We love DIY wedding projects! When we found this DIY string art tutorial from Green Wedding Shoes, we knew we had to share it with you! We love the string heart but this tutorial would look great with an ampersand, your new last names or your wedding date. The possibilities are endless and this would make a great conversation piece to have in your home after your special day!

Materials Needed:

• piece of wood - the bigger the more dramatic!
• string - we used pink neon thin rope you can find at Home Depot, but you could use any yarn or string
• box of nails (you want a nail with a decent head so the string won't pop off)
• spray paint or stain for the wood
• white paper to draw the heart on

Step 1: Spray paint the wood the background color you picked. We used dark gray so the pink would really pop
Step 2: Once the paint is dry, tape the wood with white paper and draw the heart shape on the paper
Step 3: Time to get the hammer out! Nail around the entire outline of the heart - we spaced our nails about an inch apart

DIY Projects | Flour Hearts

Today's DIY posting is ridiculously simple and  one of those "why-didn't-I-think-of-that" kind of project.   Love the hearts for an aisle runner or simple pathway to the Ceremony or Reception.   If you are not into hearts, then your initials, circles, arrows, pretty much anything you can think of will do. 

Your guests will love your creativity and the best part - No clean up!  The next rain will wash it away!

DIY Projects | Paper Pomanders

It has been a busy week at our studio with all of the DIY projects.  Today's project is an easy project that your flower girl could help with since this would be such an adorable item for her to carry down the aisle.
These would also be cute to add to your tables, scattering them here and there; favors with guest's names pinned on; or in different colors decorating your candy or dessert buffet.  In short, there is no lack of ideas where to use these at your wedding. Happy crafting!
