Finding your Wedding Inspiration - Your way

We are often asked in the office .....
"What inspires you?"
"Where do you find your inspiration with so many weddings?"
"How do I decide on colors or a 'theme' for our event?"
"Where do I begin to decide on a 'feel' for our day?"

To find our inspiration, we spend countless of hours pouring over the latest weddings through books, magazines, emails, Blogs, Pinterest, Intagram, Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media Networks. Of course, we would not expect everyone to do this much homework for their own wedding celebration [yes, we spend literally hours a day]!  Deciding on inspiring ideas for your event can be as easy as looking in your closet to see what colors and textures you love to wear; your favorite restaurant foods, movies that make you cry or laugh; everyday activities that are a part of who you are, or travel memories that stay in your heart and shape the person that you have become.

Inspiration should move you to feel new things, remember time honored traditions, evoke emotions of tears, deep heart-felt laughter, beautiful love, textures to touch, memories to remember for a lifetime.  Your guests will love your event because of the two people that are sharing their lives, not because you chose one color palette over another.

Carry a notebook with you and a camera for those times when you see something that evokes a pleasant emotion. a new color that you absolutely love, a new food that you can't wait to share with your friends, the way a restaurant program is laid out, a picture in a museum that moves you, etc. Make a mood board of your findings with pictures, clippings, fabrics swatches, anything that you love.   All of this contributes to a beautiful event that expresses the two of you with all the people that you love.

This is the inspiration that weddings are made from.

DIY Projects | Paper Pomanders

It has been a busy week at our studio with all of the DIY projects.  Today's project is an easy project that your flower girl could help with since this would be such an adorable item for her to carry down the aisle.
These would also be cute to add to your tables, scattering them here and there; favors with guest's names pinned on; or in different colors decorating your candy or dessert buffet.  In short, there is no lack of ideas where to use these at your wedding. Happy crafting!

Wedding Inspirations | What Inspires you?

When you become engaged, suddenly a trip to the local bookstore for all the latest Bridal Magazines is a must. As you turn page after page, your eyes and thoughts become bigger and bigger until your mind is on sensory overload! After some time to digest, discuss, and dream, it is time to decide what really works for your wedding, the two of you, your Ceremony and Reception. My question is......

What Inspires You?

15 Tips

Today is December 15th, so how about 15 tips for a wonderful wedding celebration?

1.  Remember that even though you have planned your wedding for months, life always has some unexpected surprises.  In other words - "Don't sweat the small stuff."

2.  If you have not hired a wedding planner, ask a close friend to be your timekeeper, police and second pair of eyes for the day.

3.  Be extremely organized.

4.  Save every receipt.

5.  Get a contract for every vendor - even your best friend who is the DJ.

6.   Read the fine print of every contract.

7.  Don't go over your wedding budget.  Starting your marriage in debt, is never a good idea.

8.  Don't be afraid to ask for all that you want.  Even the things that you don't think that you will get - ask; you never know!

9.  Be thankful everyday for your fiance, your parents, his parents and good friends.

10.  Remember the real reason why you are getting married.
